Who we are

Founded by Late Prafulla Kumar Mitra, a pioneer in the Ship Building Sector in 1956, Merolyn Engineering Works Pvt. Ltd. has cruised upstream slowly but steadily to emerge as one of the leading shipbuilders and ship repairers in the private sector in India.

Innovative designs coupled with optimum utilisation of skill and determination led to the triumphant progress of the organisation. Indomitable quest for perfection paved the way for the creation of an ever-increasing array of satisfied and loyal customer base.

Vessels built by us and inspected by National and International classification societies are sailing on an even keel in Indian and Bangladeshi waters. Propelled and Non-propelled vessels upto 80 meters in length have been built in the company’s two shipyards.

Dry Docking repairs and special surveys for vessels upto 5000 DWT have also been meticulously carried out at our well-equipped yards. We provide top quality services worldwide.

We have two well-equipped shipyards at Salkia & Shalimar, Howrah where we undertake new construction and repairing jobs of various marine crafts, marine structures and other marine related jobs.

Today, we are capable of making a wide variety of vessels including Passenger Ferries, Pilot Launches, Bollard Pull Tugs, Accommodation Boats, Trawlers and Multipurpose Tugs etc.

Our capabilities could be extended to other types of vessels as well through the creation of a new centre of excellence. We have initiated modular construction at our yards through tie-ups with GRSE Ltd. (a defense shipyard under Govt. of India, MoD) to undertake Hull Block building services for several naval crafts.
